I thought I’d make a list! I unfortunately do not have many movies/tv/books revolving around black people with EDs. Feel free to add in with anything like tv/movies/books I may have missed. Even essays or articles are great. I really don’t think I’ve done as much justice as I should’ve with this list because black ed rep is kinda harder to find.

πŒπŽπ•πˆπ„π’:
—Solace (2019)
—The Road Within (2011)
—To The Bone (2017) // a black girl implied to have binge eating disorder. she admits to binging but not purging, but the audio of her saying it fades out to focus on Eli.
—Birds Of Paradise (2019) // a black female ballet dancer has bulimia due to pressures to remain thin for her classes.

—I Love Ana (2021) // Alyssa G. Mullings
—Living With An Eating Disorder (2019) // mangoranges
—EAT: An Eating Disorder Awareness Short Film // Taffy Lashley

ππŽπŽπŠπ’:
—Not All Black Girls Know How to Eat // Stephanie Covington Armstrong
—Hunger // Roxane Gay
— Treating Black Women with Eating Disorders: A Clinician's Guide // Charlynn Small, Mazella Fuller (this probably isn’t what most people are looking for but I wanted to include it)

There's some books too. I'm search them up and add them. Great list btw!

The 2005 FX show Starved featured a black male bulimic character, Adam. I can’t think of another piece of media that has ever had a black male character with an ED, let alone a protagonist

I can add to the book list:

Books that are genuinely worth reading:

        Pointe (Brandy Colbert) - fiction

Not Otherwise Specified (Hannah Moskowitz) - fiction

Books where I'm digging deeeeeeeep into my GR shelves:

Paper Thin (Sheila Goss) - fiction

Shrink to Fit (Dona Sarkar) - fiction

India (Victoria Christopher Murray) - fiction

And for the sake of it, here are some books by/about people from other underrepresented groups, primarily POC:

Pork Belly Tacos with a Side of Anxiety (Yvonne CastaΓ±eda) - memoir, Latina

Yolk (Mary Choi) - fiction, Asian American

Flaca (Leslie DJ) - memoir, Latina

Imperfect (Dounya Awada) - graphic memoir, Muslim American

In Clothes Called Fat (Moyoco Anno) - graphic novel/manga, Asian

Sorry Not Sorry (Naya Rivera) - memoir, Latina/Black

Faerie (Eisha Marjara) - fiction, South Asian Canadian
